A MONOLOGUE FROM OLMPUS - A PLAY BY KATHERINE JAMES

•  Both Alan and Katherine can be seen in CALLBACK.  This independent film directed by their long time friend, Nigel Dick, was recently selected for the 2009 BRITISH FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles.  The Festival takes place in Redondo Beach from May 3rd to May 8th.  Did we mention Nathan, their son, also served as the Sound Recordist for the movie? And he can be heard singing the title and end tracks in the film.

•
The monologue you see above you is from the first workshop production of OLYMPUS, the new play that Katherine has been working on.  This first workshop was performed at the Theatricum Botanicum in November of 2007.  Check the website at FREE ASSOCIATION THEATRE for updated information.

Katherine is also researching her new play, tentatively titled, PLAY FOR JIMMY.  It tells the story of a young apprentice in summer stock company in Illinois in the summer of 1969.  Funny, heartfelt and a love song to actors and the dying breed of summer stock characters.  Katherine is workshoping the play in Los Angeles.

In addition, Katherine continues her work as a part of the Seedlings program at Theatricum.  Check their website at www.theatricum.com for updates.  In addition to helping to select the "green reads" (preliminary readings of plays not quite yet ready for a more elaborate staged reading) and the plays for fully staged readings, Katherine will be directing MONKEY ADORED and a few other plays between now and early October.  A full production of LOST NATION, the play Katherine staged as a reading last season, is preparing for a production in Los Angeles within the next year. This year Katherine has directed readings of several other new plays including: JESUS COME< JESUS GO, at the Orange County Playwrights Festival and HOW TO SHOOT A BULLMOOSE at Theatricum. She and Alan will be working as director and actor on that play. A collaboration that they love.

•
Alan just completed a production at South Coast Repertory Theater, a new musical called AN ITALIAN STRAW HAT, adapted from the play with original music and reset in New York City in the 1920s.  He is currently performing at A Noise Within in TAMING OF THE SHREW, as Grumio.  This summer he will return to the Theatricum Botanicum as Casca in JULIUS CAESAR and as the lead Harpogan in Moliere's THE MISER.

•
Alan's film and tv schedule is taking up a lot of  his time.  He shot an episode of NUMBERS and several tv commercials, playing a lawyer in one of them.  Alas, of now, his character is dead on HEROES.

•  His film, PATHOLOGY was released this year and will soon be available on DVD.  In addition, watch for his film with Robert DiNero and Al Pacino, RIGHTEOUS KILL, now available on DVD.
